Aims and objectives

  • to support the process of renovating the social support services, by creating a training programme for social workers and carers that will address the problem of elderly people abuse and maltreatment;
  • to raise the awareness about elderly people maltreatment and expose all the consequence it has for elderly people and their families;
  • to put efforts in combating this negative phenomenon by preparing social workers, family members and carers on how to recognise elderly people maltreatment and abuse, how to address them and what actions to take;
  • to recognise all types of elderly maltreatment and abuse;
  • to address such cases by contacting and involving responsible organisations and institutions;
  • to apply social marketing and mass media awareness raising campaigns and tools for promoting the ABUTRAINING training programme, as well as other trainings and educational courses that address the topic of elderly people maltreatment;
  • to promote the healthy ageing approach and combat the negative stereotypes that exist about elderly people.
